Labor leader pushes for fuel tax
suspension amid US-Iran tension

Local labor leader Wennie Sancho called on the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte to suspend the excise taxes on fuel products following the rising tension between an oil-rich Middle East country and the United States.

This came after US President Donald Trump allegedly ordered the killing of one of Iran's top commanders in an airstrike on an airport in Baghdad.

Sancho, secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Associations, said yesterday that the tension between the two nations could lead to higher fuel prices that could affect Filipinos, especially low-income families.
