Winners in the college competitions of the NOPSSCEA will represent Negros Occidental in the Western Visayas Private School Athletic Meet scheduled Jan. 31 to Feb. 5 in Roxas City.

PRISAA regional director Roger Banzuela said that delegates from Iloilo, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Negros Occidental and host Capiz will converge in Roxas on Jan. 31 for the opening of the regional PRISAA.

Winners in the regional level of the competition will represent Western Visayas in the national meet in Tuguegarao, Cagayan Valley on April 18 to 24, Banzuela said.

He added that during the recent meeting of the PRISAA National Board it was decided to award the hosting of the 2021 national games to Bacolod City.

“Unless there will be some changes, Bacolod will host the national PRISAA on 2021. With an estimated 6,800 delegates expected to join in the competition it will be a great opportunity for the city to host the national games,” Banzuela said.

Meanwhile, as president of the Philippine University Games, Banzuela said there are plans to bring back the games to its original home, Bacolod City, for its 25th edition this year.

Founded in 1996, the first UNIGAMES was fheld at the University of St. La Salle as the founding host.

“We hope we can make it happen. But if the plans will not materialize, Capiz and Dumaguete are also interested in hosting the 25th UNIGAMES this year,” Banzuela said.*
