A high value target connected to the Odicta Drug Group in Iloilo was found brutally killed in Purok Katipunan, Barangay Cabug in Bacolod City, at about 6:15 a.m. yesterday, the police said.
Nathan Zerrudo, 44, of Tanza in Iloilo City, succumbed to 22 initial gunshot and stab wounds, Police Lt. Jonito Pastrana, Station 9 chief, said.
Zerrudo’s hands were tied with a nylon cord, Pastrana said, adding that his wrists and knees were broken.
Eight slugs of a .45 caliber pistol, four slugs of a 9mm pistol, five slugs of .22 caliber revolver, and two empty shell of .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene, the police said.
Illegal drug trade is the motive being looked into by the police in the death of Zerrudo, who was connected to the Odicta Drug Group in Iloilo, Pastrana said.
Receipts of money transfer, ATM cards, and identification cards were foundin the possession of Zerrudo, he also said.
More than three suspects carried out the crime, Pastrana said.
He said the family of Zerrudo claimed that on Wednesday, Zerrudo informed them that he was still in Iloilo, but some individuals told the police that the victim had been staying in Bacolod for more than a month.
The police could no longer proceed with the investigation because the relatives of Zerrudo signed a waiver, refusing to have an autopsy conducted on his body, Pastrana said.
Pastrana said the relatives of Zerrudo only wanted to being his body back to Iloilo, and were already processing the documents for the transfer of the cadaver from the Lourdes Funeral Homes in Bacolod.
Zerrudo had just celebrated his birthday on Monday.*
