Jobless man in drug list
gunned down
BY SHIELA GELERA

A jobless man in the watchlist of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council was gunned down in broad daylight at Zone 2, Abada Escay in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, at about 12:45 p.m. yesterday.

Killed on the spot was Sonny Flores Jr., 35, of the barangay, and reportedly a police asset.

Flores was formerly a drug surrenderer and classified as a pusher, P/Lt. Florentino Abalayan, Station 7 chief, said.

He added that Flores was included in the BADAC watchlist and they also received information that the victim was an asset of a police station in Bacolod, but not of Station 7.

Investigation showed that Flores was sitting in a parked tricycle when an armed suspect approached and shot him, hitting his back, police records show.

The suspect escaped on foot, Abalayan said, adding a slug and an empty shell were recovered at the crime scene.

The police is investigating the victim’s involvement in the illegal drug trade as motive for his killing, Abalayan said.

They already identified a person of interest but his name was withheld pending his arrest.

The incident happened in a populated relocation site, while the Enhanced Community Quarantine is ongoing.*SGG
