SP approves P5M to buy palay

Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental approved a P5 million allocation for the purchase of palay, or unhusked rice, from Negrense farmers during their special session yesterday.

The budget will be appropriated on the proposal of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist to procure crop harvest directly from the farmers, have it processed or milled, then sell it.

This is one of the measures being implemented by the provincial government to mitigate the impact of the price downtrend.
