Drug bagman slain,
seven others injured

A self-confessed bagman of the Berya Drug Group operating in Negros Island was killed in a shootout with at least two motorcycle-riding suspects near the Manville Royale at Araneta Street in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, about 4 p.m. Saturday.

The incident also caused a multiple vehicular collisionat Araneta Street, when the maroon Mitsubishi Mirage car of the victim identified as Ricky Serenio, 37, of Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod hit a multicab, while trying to avoid his attackers.

Some of the drivers who heard the burst of fire, likewise panicked, causing a domino-effect crash, involving at least six vehicles, including a motorcycle, Police Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, Bacolod City Police Office public information officer, said yesterday. moremoremore


Cops seize P15M in shabu

About P15 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during a buy-bust operation against an alleged member of the Camaria Drug Group in Purok Fatima, Barangay 31 in Bacolod City, at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Operatives of Bacolod City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Lt. Col. Leonardo Borromeo, conducted a buy-bust against Cader Magondacan, who was able to escape on foot.

However, his son Amad, 17, was arrested, Borromeo said.

The operation yielded 29 sachets of suspected shabu and P5,000 in marked money, police records show. moremoremore

USDA officials visit
Negros First Ranch

Officials of the United States Department of Agriculture visited the Negros First Ranch in Murcia town, Negros Occidental Friday.

The team was composed of Morgan Hass, agricultural counselor, Ryan Bedford, agricultural attaché, and Pia Ang, US Embassy official. They were welcomed by Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino, and Placeda Lemana, Farm Management Division head.

“They were toured on the projects of the farm such as pasture development, sheep, beef and dairy cattle, dairy goat, native pigs, duck, and turkey ,” Decena said.
