Double win for Estefania

It was a double victory for Barangay Estefania after dominating the Ruby MassKara street and arena dance competitionin the barangay and school (elementary) categories in celebration of the 40th MassKara Festival in Bacolod City during the weekend.

Estefania bested 13 other barangays in the street and arena dance competition yesterday, and also won over six other schools Saturday. The last time it won the championship was about 20 years ago.

House set for sugar inquiry,
Panelo to help Duterte meet

Presidential spokesman Salavador Panelo said if President Rodrigo Duterte receives a request for the relief of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) chief, he will have it investigated.

Panelo, who was in Bacolod City for the MassKara Festival yesterday, also said that if he is sent a copy of the request of the small sugar farmers for an appointment with the president to air their opposition to sugar import liberalization, he will help facilitate it.

113 scholars complete
tech-voc courses

The 113 scholars of the Negros Occidental provincial government completed the Contact Center Services NC II and Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Course at the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center in Bacolod City recently.

Ma. Cristina Orbecido, NOLITC Vocational School administrator, said 19 scholars who completed the medical billing and coding course passed the American Medical Certification Association examination. She added they have a 100 percent passing rate.

She said government programs will succeed through collaboration and engagement of all sectors, as she cited the support and the development work of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and all industry partners for the young Negrenses.
