‘Duterte expected Friday’

President Rodrigo Duterte is tentatively scheduled to arrive in Bacolod City on Friday for the 40th edition of the MassKara Festival, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.

Leonardia said he has made some coordination with the MassKara Committee because if the President comes on Friday they will have him open the Electric MassKara Performing Float Parade.

It can be recalled that the President has attended the MassKara Festival for three consecutive years. He has perfect attendance in Bacolod in three different MassKara events, he said. moremoremore

2,074 force to secure MassKara

The 2,074-strong force and 347 logistical resources that will provide security for the highlights of the Ruby MassKara Festival in Bacolod City were deployed yesterday.

Personnel from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, rescue groups, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office, K-9 units, and force multipliers gathered yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.

The logistical resources sent off were mobile patrol cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, ambulances, radios, Civil Disturbance Management equipment, among others. moremoremore

ASF task force seizes P1.85M
in pork products in 1 month

In the span of one month, members of the Provincial African Swine Fever Task Force seized P1.85 million worth of pork products, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said yesterday.

From September 18 to October 18, a total of 2.75 tons of assorted pork products were seized at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City and Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corporation port in Bacolod City, he said.

Among the confiscated pork products were the truckload of siopao worth P1.12 million that weighed 8,640 kilograms on October 16, he said.
