Court upholds Irene win

In a decision released yesterday, a La Carlota City Regional Trial Court judge upheld the proclamation of Irene Montilla as the winning mayor of Isabela, Negros Occidental, by an even narrower margin.

Montilla won by a margin of 22 votes over her opponent, former mayor Joselito Malabor, after a revision of votes, La Carlota RTC Branch 74 Judge Mila Yap-Camiso said in her decision.

ON EXPANDED IRA
Mayors meeting Duterte

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia will lead the city mayors who will meet with President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss the expanded Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) as decided by the Supreme Court (SC) in the Mandanas case at Malacañang today.

Leonardia said the LCP will explore with the President their proposal for the monetization of incremental IRA for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021, a press release from his office said.

Duterte announced during the 69th LCP National Executive Board meeting in Davao City on September 27 that that he is open to options for local governments to immediately avail of their share of the national revenue as ruled by the SC in the petition filed by Batangas Governor Hermenigildo Mandanas, the press release added. moremoremore

Capitol allocates P4.92 million
insurance subsidy for farmers

The provincial government of Negros Occidental has allocated a P4.92 million subsidy for crop insurance for affected farmers in the province.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of the check to the Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City Wednesday.

PCIC is the implementing agency of the agricultural insurance of the government.
