Finally, after 11 years.

The Supreme Court First Division has dismissed the appeal filed by the Office of the Ombudsman and private complainants Jose Lindy Chan and Jojo Sumiller against 17 Silay City employees, arising from the procurement of an i nformation and communications technology (ICT) project in 2008.

The SC in a 22-page ruling dated July 10 and received by the respondents late last week, affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeals on June 25, 2012, absolving the 17 employees of administrative liability for Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service. moremoremore


MassKara kicks off today

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the unveiling of an art installation at the Bacolod City Government Center fountain area last night while a visual feast of a program will open the 40th edition of the MassKara Festival at 6 p.m. today at the Bandstand atthe Bacolod Public Plaza.

The unveiling of RJ Lacson’s art installation titled “The Ruby Edition: Looking back and moving forward,” was capped by a fireworks display.

Ruby Festival Director Eli Tajanlangit said they are going to have an opening that will fulfill Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s promise that this is going to be a MassKara like no other. moremoremore

Surveillance intensified vs. ASF

The Provincial African Swine Fever Task Force has started its information drive in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City on Friday.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said the information education campaign aims to increase awareness and strengthen surveillance on the dreaded virus.

The information drive will be conducted three times a week until all 61 barangays of Bacolod are covered, he added.
