compete in SEA Games
BY NIDA A. BUENAFE

Two homegrown athletes from Bacolod City, Anne Katherine Quitoy and Bernalyn Bejoy, are competing in the 30th Southeast Asian Games as members of the national athletics team of host Philippines.

Bejoy will represent the country in women’s 400-meter hurdles and in women’s 4x400m while Quitoy will compete in women’s javelin throw.

“Seeing both girls competing in the SEA Games is our ultimate goal. We are proud to see them together with the elite athletes of the national team,” Bejoy and Quitoy’s mentor Addy Arca said.

After trailing in the first half, the Philippine U22 Team dug deep late in the game to level the score at 1-1 to walk away with a point in last night’s first football match in Group A of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Dennis Chung delivered the equalizer.

A day after the confusion and some embarrassment on the part of host Philippines, the U22 PH Team reinforced by Azkals captain Stephan Schrock and experienced defender Amani Aguinaldo, gave the country something to cheer about.
