The Provincial African Swine Fever Task Force has seized a total of P2.51-million in pork products from Luzon during their inspections at port terminals and establishments in Negros Occidental in more than two months.
In the report it released yesterday, the task force said they intercepted 5,376 kilograms of pork products, or 52,415 pieces, from September 18 to November 22 this year.
These included a truckload of siopao worth P1.1 million, or 51,840 pieces, that was seized by the task force at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation port on October 16.
The report also showed that the task force intercepted 2,502 kilograms of pork kasim worth P500,512 at the San Carlos City port, and 1,206 kilograms of assorted pork products worth P447,331 at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City.
Other items recovered by the task force were chicharon, Ma Ling, hot meat, pork jowl, skinless chorizo, uncooked beef, and siomai.
The report said most of the seized products were shipped back to the points of origin, while 221 kilograms of pork products were burned.*
