Cops nab rape suspect
with P200,000 bounty
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

After more than a week of hiding from the authorities, a rape suspect with a P200,000 bounty offered for his arrest, was finally apprehended by the police at Catabla Baybay in Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday night.

The joint operation of the Talisay City and Cadiz City police stations led to the arrest of Marlon Beboso Jr., 23, who has a pending arrest warrant for rape by sexual assault, issued by Iloilo Regional Trial Court Judge Rogelio Amador, who recommended P120,000 bail for him.

Beboso was also tagged by the police as a suspect in the molestation of a 13-year-old student on Nov. 11 in Brgy. Magsaysay, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

To hasten the arrest of Beboso, the Cadiz City government offered a P200,000 reward for his arrest, city police chief Maj. Robert Mansueto said yesterday.

Mansueto said a police informant, who linked up with the relatives of the suspect, led to the arrest of the suspect in Talisay City, after more than a week of manhunt operations.

Additional rape charges are being readied by the Cadiz police against Beboso, who is now detained the Talisay City Police Station, for the molestation of the minor, who is still being treated for head injuries, at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

The minor, who was allegedly molested by the arrested suspect, was found at a sugarcane plantation, with head injuries, according to the police.

The arrested suspect was reported to be a relative of the stepfather of the victim.*
