Labor unions declare
Zoilo de la Cruz Day

The National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry of the Philippines and its affiliate unions have has passed a resolution declaring December 13 as the Zoilo V. De La Cruz Jr. Memorial Day.

De La Cruz was the longtime national president and one of the founding leaders of the NACUSIP who during his lifetime contributed exemplary benefits to the sugar workers and the Filipino workers, the resolution said.

“These contributions such as the 13th month pay, social amelioration program, paternity leave and other educational and livelihood programs alleviate the lives of Filipino workers. Thus, it is but fitting to immortalize all the effort Atty. Zoilo V. De La Cruz Jr. made for the Filipino workers,” the resolution said.

The resolution was signed by Roland de la Cruz, NACUSIP national president, and 20 other labor leaders.*
