Researchers, students, faculty members, and inventors in Western Visayas will convene for the first Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology (IEET) research conference today and tomorrow in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The Western Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (WVCIEERD) and the Department of Science and Technology VI are spearheading the event that underscores three research and development clusters, namely food safety and security, energy efficiency and renewable energy, and electronics, ICT and emerging technology, a government press release said.
The DOST said in a statement that the research conference aims to present opportunities to boost research capabilities, dissemination, application, and collaborations among consortium members.
Activities include plenary sessions, trainings, research presentations, and, oral and poster research presentation contest for faculty members and students, the press release said.
In addition, there will be product pitching from invited sponsors and identification of research partnerships among the WVCIEERD member-institutions.
This year's IEET Conference carries the theme “Convergence of Researches in Food, Energy and ICT for Smart and Sustainable Communities”.
The WVCIEERD is an association of various agencies, private higher education institutions and state universities and colleges involved in R&D attuned towards the needs of the industry and energy sectors in the region, the press release added.*
