BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The search for the abducted person, alleged to be a drug courier, in EB Magalona town yesterday ended after his body was found in a sugarcane field in Brgy. 13, Victorias City, Negros Occidental

The victim identified by the police as Roger Hellacone, 18, had succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and neck.

Capt. Wilfredo Benoman, officer-in-charge of the EB Magalona Police Station, said yesterday that Hellacone was abducted by three unidentified men, who were wearing face masks on Sunday night from a computer shop in Purok Masagana, Brgy. Tanza, EB Magalona.

Benoman said that the victim, who was a resident of Brgy. Santo Niño, EB Magalona, was forcibly dragged into a silver gray Strada pick-up vehicle by the three suspects.

Hellacone’s body was found yesterday in Hacienda Newton, Brgy. 13, Victorias City, PLt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz said.

Corpuz, who is the Victorias City police chief, said that an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol was recovered at the scene of incident, indicating that the victim may have been executed in the area.

Police probers are still verifying information that the killing of the victim may have been related to illegal drugs activities, based on information they gathered from his sister.

Corpuz said they were informed that the victim allegedly served as a “courier” of the Divinagracia drug group.

But he and Benoman admitted that Hellacone was not included in their drug watch lists,

The abduction and killing of Hellacone took place several days after operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 seized a kilo of suspected shabu, with a market value of P6.8 million, from three suspectsarrested in Bacolod City.*
