Negrense businessman Ramon Peñalosa Jr., owner of Peñalosa Farms in Victorias City, was recognized in the 3rd Lakbay Bukid Awards of the International School of Sustainable Tourism during the awards night held at the Marco Polo Plaza in Cebu City recently.
Peñalosa and the other awardees, veteran journalist Zac Sarian, Sulu princes Kumala Sug-Elardo, and Indian entrepreneur Pandurang Taware, were honored for their efforts in strengthening the agri-tourism industry in the country.
Peñalosa said farm tourism sites are magnets for those who want to go into the business of crops, livestock, forestry, and aqua.
He added that farm tourism is a vehicle for transformation through information and reformation.
“We believe and advocate that no Filipino should go hungry in his native land and that there is money in the countryside,” he added.*
