A seaman and two motorcycle drivers died, while two others, including a nurse, sustained injuries, in two vehicular accidents in Escalante City and in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Newly-wed couple July Mata, a 31-year-old seaman, and his wife, Jaquelyn, were on their way to the Escalante City poblacion, when they figured in a collision with a tricycle driven by Archier Villaran along the national highway of Sitio Varca in Brgy. Jonobjonob, Escalante City, yesterday.
The two victims were brought to the Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City.
Maj. Gil John Despi, Escalante police officer-in-charge, said July died, while his wife who is a nurse suffered injuries.
Motorcycle drivers Jimel Maso and Romeo Pabillar were also killed on Sunday, after their motorcycles collided in Sitio Linao, Brgy. Bato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Maso, 21, and an employee of a department store, and Pabillar were both declared dead on arrival at the Hinigaran Emergency Clinic by Dr. Lizel Lisades, the Hinigaran police said.
The back rider of Pabillar identified as Jenel Donea sustained injuries. The survivor of the vehicular accident was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, after being given initial medical treatment at the Hinigaran Emergency Clinic.
Meanwhile, a retired member of the Bureau of Fire and Protection identified as Bernard Tapuela, 65, was found dead inside his nipa hut in Purok Paglaum in Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog, police also said.*
