Demolition in Tangub ordered

The Municipal Trial Court in Cities has ordered the demolition of 46 structures on a 25-hectare private property in Purok Busay, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, yesterday.

Susan Cordero, one of the affected residents, yesterday said they received the notice from the court about a week ago, but were surprised when a demolition team arrived yesterday and started demolishing their houses.

The affected residents claimed they have no place to stay since they have not applied with the Bacolod Housing Authority for a relocation site.

Sheriff Joel Belleza said the demolition of the 46 structures is legal as it is covered by a writ of demolition dated July 2, 2018 issued by Judge Napoleon Diamante of MTCC Branch 3.

Belleza said the residents did not vacate the area despite having been given ample time to prepare and after having attended a pre-demolition conference in the office of Brgy. Tangub with the BHA and the Presidential Commission for Urban Poor.

The 25-hectare property is owned by Milagros Villasor, he said in an interview over Aksyon Radyo.*
