Patty’s birthday

Bacolod visual artist Patty Jane Ku-Ong celebrated her birthday and held her second solo art exhibit, titled “Fashionista”, at Seda Hotel in the city on November 10.

Her mixed media artworks on canvas consist of doll-like figures in long gowns made up of real hair and lashes, and wearing accessories, like earrings, bracelets, rings, clutches, and beads and rhinestones, etc.

The celebration was attended by her husband, Glenn Ong, daughters Patricia Gabrielle and Pretzel Giana, son Glen Phillip, Fr. Emilio Ascaño, Msgr. Noly Ador Que, her friends, and relatives.

Ong is a member of Alla Prima and United Artist of the Philippines.

She is a graduate of BS HRM at La Consolacion College and was a commercial model for First Choice Chicken, Carlo Ristorante, Tagetmaster and Oalmas del Mar.*

Moises Padilla ES students,
teachers win big in DSPC

Moises Padilla Elementary School (MPES) students and teachers presented their awards from the recent Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), held at the Negros Occidental High School, to town mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo.

Among the 60 schools that joined the campus journalism competition, the MPES was awarded first place Best Performing School in English, first runner-up - Best Performing School, while its news letter won second for Best School Paper, a press release said.

Grace Aurelio was awarded the Highest Pointer Adviser and Best Performing Adviser in English.

For the group category, MPES was the champion in Collaborative Desktop Publishing, second for English Broadcasting, and third place winner for Filipino Broadcasting, the press release said.

In the individual category, Khayze Presquito won first place for English Feature Writing, English Science and Technology Writing, and first in Highest Pointer Journalist.

Chesa Joyce Canopin placed second for English Editorial Writing, while Adriel Joseff Aurelio won third in English Copyreading and Headline Writing, fourth in English Newswriting, and was the second Highest Pointer Journalist.

Jimmarie Isabel Basilio placed 8th in English Sports Writing, Zyra Mondigo was 7th in Filipino Science and Technology Writing, Ralph Lester Caminade took the 9th place in Filipino Sports Writing, and Regine Nalagon was 10th place in Filipino Copyreading and Headline Writing, the press release added.*
