BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A watchman and a driver both died on Saturday in separate hacking and stabbing incidents in Cadiz City and La Castellana, Negros Occidental, with the three suspects now in jail.

Mico Orot and Jerrymil Panag are now detained at a police jail, after they allegedly hacked and stabbed Eric Dimson at Purok Roadside in Brgy. Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, on Saturday.

Dimson, a watchman of Alfis Construction, was declared dead on arrival at the Cadiz Emergency Clinic, while the two suspects gave themselves up to the police, the next day.

Police investigation showed that the two suspects and the victim, who was reported to be under the influence of liquor, figured in heated arguments.

Panag hacked the victim on the head, while Orot stabbed him several times, the police said.

Sandico Baquiler, 46, and a driver, succumbed to a stab wound on his right armpit, where he was stabbed by Raymond Bantolo also on Saturday in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, police records show.

Baquiller was declared dead on arrival at the Enrico Elumba Clinic, while the suspect was arrested by the police.

A knife with a scabbard was recovered by the police from Bantolo, who is now detained at the La Castellana police jail.

A certain RJ Reyes was arrested by the police in Brgy. Consuelo, Ilog town, after he allegedly hacked his own father, Ricardo, with a cane cutter, also on Saturday.

Investigations of the Ilog police showed that the victim, who was about to sleep, figured in heated arguments with his father, who was creating alarm and scandal, inside their house.

The younger Reyes took a cane cutter and hacked his father in the left side of his face.

Ricardo is now being treated at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.*
