Jalapa, Sudayon join CSA-V
as Titans strengthen 3-peat bid
BY NIDA A. BUENAFE

Former University of St. La Salle campaigner Ray Alexander Jalapa and La Consolacion College standout Kurth Sudayon will be wearing the Colegio de Sta. Ana – Victorias colors when the NOPSSCEA Season 39 men’s basketball competition starts this Friday.

Known for his defense while still playing for the USLS Stingers, Jalapa has impressed CSA-V Titans manager Ramon Cruz with his style of play.

“He is a guard who can defend very well. I want his style of play on our team,” Cruz said.

He added that he wanted to recruit Jalapa to the CSA-V side since three years ago, when along with his brother Paul, they were building the team around their star players Jeff Manday and Junior Essaka.

Sudayon, on the other hand, was a prolific scorer while suiting up for the LCC Blue Panters.

“He can add fire power to our team,” Cuz said, adding that the addition of both Jalapa and Sudayon will make the Titans a team to beat in the NOPSSCEA this year.

“Having them both in our team will be very much fun to watch from our fans point of view,” Cruz said.

The CSA-V Titans are gunning for a third straight NOPSSCEA title this year after beating former champions University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams in 2017 and STI-West Negros University Mustangs last year.

The team from Victorias also won the men’s basketball championship against Enderun Colleges in the Philippine University Games last month in Iloilo City.

“With the support of Mr. Jerry and Mr. Chris Heim, we know that our dream of winning another championship in the NOPSSCEA can be achieved,” Cruz added.*
