The P300,000 Drug Rehabilitation Center of Barangay Handumanan in Bacolod City that will serve its constituents for free is nearing completion, Handumanan Brgy. Capt. Ricardo Danoy Sr. said yesterday.
Danoy said Handumanan is the only barangay in Bacolod that has its own drug rehabilitation center to cater to its constituents. This is in line with the program of the President.
There were residents of his barangay who have undergone drug rehabilitation before. He recalled that when he took over there were about nine or 11 of them, with some coming from Brgy. Felisa, he said.
Danoy said the center will be operated by the barangay and manned by their personnel in coordination with the City Health Office. The cost of its construction was taken from the Peace and Order fund of the barangay for 2018.
It is expected to be completed next month, or by January next year. It has a size of about 16 feet by 20 feet, he said.
He is thankful to the barangay kagawads of Handumanan for their interest in helping residents of their barangay who need to undergo drug rehabilitation, Danoy said.
The rehabilitation center will also be manned by nurses and midwives, he added.*
