New PSD office inaugurated
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The provincial government of Negros Occidental got a share of P2,054,638.86 from sales of the Procurement Service Depot for 2017 and 2018, provincial PSD supervisor Arnel Argusar said yesterday.

The check was turned over by PSD Operations Group OIC-Director Ariel Cunanan to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday during the blessing of the new PSD office at Cottage Road, Barangay 9 in Bacolod City.

The PSD of Negros Occidental got a new home, following the demolition of the Provincial Administration Center to pave the way for the construction of a high-rise PAC multi-stories building.

Local government units, national government agencies, state universities and colleges, as well a government owned control corporations and their subsidiaries are among the clients of Procurement Service, with a mission to ensure that government clients acquire quality products at the best prices, at the right time, all the time.

The prices of office supplies, equipment and janitorial, among others, is less 12 percent, compared to the actual price, Cunanan said.

The savings to be generated can be utilized by the provincial government for its various programs and activities, he added.

The first and only PS depot in Western Visayas was established in 2004 in Negros Occidental through the effort of the late Governor Joseph Marañon, who implemented the electronic procurement system.

Ma. Mina Pellejo used to be the provincial PSD supervisor.

The PS depot is co-managed by the provincial government of Negros Occidental and the Procurement Service Office of the Department of Budget and Management.*
