BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Another Negrense has been added to the list of generals in the Philippine National Police.

He is newly-promoted Brig. Gen. Remus Zacarias Canieso, deputy regional police director for Administration of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas.

Canieso is the grandson of the late Philippine Army chief Maj. Gen. Rodolfo Canieso.

The younger Canieso, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1989, used to serve as commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 and director of the Iloilo City Police Office.

Also promoted to the rank of police brigadier general were Ildebrande Usana, DRDA of Police Regional Office 7, Jonnel Estomo, director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group and Matthew Bacay, director of the PNP Legal Service, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said that more police officials are up for promotion as more are also set to retire in the coming months.*
