BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panglungsod is calling on all law enforcement agencies to investigate the ambush-slay of Jail Officer Hayvee Jason Vargas and the wounding of several persons in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, on November 8, for an early resolution of the crime.

The resolution authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa said the SP has been calling on the Bacolod City Police Office, National Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and other law enforcement agencies to resolve at the earliest possible time high crimes committed within Bacolod.

These crimes include the slaying of businessman Alex Yao, Barangay Captain Nelson Ligaya, Police Officer Oscar Exaltado, and alleged murder attempt against then Councilor Ricardo Tan, it said.

A resolution was passed on the Dec. 19, 2018 session of the SP requesting Mayor Evelio Leonardia to convene the Peace and Order Council to formulate measures in the prevention and solution of all heinous crimes committed within Bacolod City, it added.*
