chief Girl Scout medalists
Three junior high school students of Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School (DHSBNHS) in La Carlota City, Negros Ocidental were awarded as chief Girl Scout medalists in a ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City recently, a press release said.
Jamie Marisse Bobila Carriedo, Angelyn Dela Cruz Salde, and Daphne Demegillo Mamon, grades 10 and 9 respectively, and from the Special Science Class of DHSBNHS, received the highest and most prestigious award under the Girl Scout of the Philippines program, and the awarding ceremony was witnessed by their parents, troop leaders, GSP coordinators, and school principal.
Carriedo and Mamon focused on environmental sanitation, providing toilet bowls for deserving families under the health category, while Salde focused on herbal garden, also under the health category, the press release said.
About 902 chief Girl Scout medalists under the 86 councils from all over the country were recognized by the GSP for their “impressive one year community projects conducted under ecology, health, livelihood, and cultural heritage.”
They exemplify the power to make a difference and a hero to every other girl scout, showcasing the bayanihan spirit and the determination to help in the rural communities, the press release added.*

Korean star Ji Chang Wook
to hold PH fan meet in 2020
MANILA — South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook is set to meet his Filipino fans in 2020, his agency, Glorious Entertainment, announced yesterday.
In its official website, Glorious Entertainment thanked fans of Ji, 32, for supporting the actor's promotional activities in 2019, ABS-CBN News reported.
“To return the love, Ji Chang Wook Asia Fan Meeting Tour <Waiting for you> will be held," the agency said.
The fan meet tour will start in January 2020 and will make stops in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan, the agency said.
The exact date and venue of Ji’s Philippine fan meet have yet to be announced.
Ji is best known for his roles in the Korean dramas “Healer (2015)”, “The K2 (2016)”, and "Suspicious Partner (2017)”.
In April, Ji finished his mandatory military service.
The actor stars in the ongoing drama "Melting Me Softly".
Boxing phenomenon Manny Pacquiao recently visited Ji on the set of "Melting Me Softly" in South Korea and gave him signed boxing gloves.
Pacquiao was accompanied by his wife, Jinkee, who is a huge fan of Ji that she even arranged for a coffee truck to arrive at the set.*
