P1.1M in shabu, marijuana seized

The police seized P1.1 million in shabu and marijuana in separate operations in Negros Island Tuesday and yesterday.

Thirty-two sachets and a big stalk of suspected marijuana were seized from a 21-year-old man during a buy-bust operation in Purok Tuna, Barangay 1, Bacolod City, at about 5 p.m. yesterday.

Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit-6 led by Police Lt. Thurslie Castillo nabbed Gideon Ulysis Nava, of the barangay, a police report said.

A big stalk of suspected marijuana covered with transparent plastic and 32 big transparent ziplock plastic sachets of suspected marijuana were recovered from Nava, police records show.

Authorities also confiscated a weighing scale and a pipe used for smoking marijuana.

The seized suspected marijuana from Nava weighed about 400 grams with an estimated market value of P48,000, police records show.

The buy-bust operation happened at a billiard place owned by Nava and students could be the usual customers of the suspect since marijuana is cheaper compared to shabu.

Nava, a culinary graduate of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, may face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*SGG
