NOHS, Binalbagan ES Top DSPC

Negros Occidental High School retained its domination of the Division of Negros Occidental Schools Press Conference held Oct. 29-31.

In the grade school competition, Binalbagan Elementary School regained overall honors in the annual competition held in preparation for the Regional and National Schools Press Conferences, an annual program of the Department of Education.

DSPC was hosted by NOHS.

The secondary level champion amassed a total of 138 points – 74 in Filipino and 64 in the English category – for the overall honors.

The Division competition included two events – collaborative desktop publishing and online publication – which were held Nov. 11.

NOHS won the four awards at stake – in English and Flipino – in the Nov. 11 events. Moises Padilla ES retained the English collaborative publishing title while E. B. Magalona was the Filipino category winner.

Binalbagan ES tied with EB Magalona for the top position in the Filipino category with 38 points each and was second to Moises Padilla in English with another 38 points for a total of 76 points to clinch the top plum.

Isabela National HS tallied 94 points and Hinigaran NHS compiled 64 points to place second and third overall, respectively.

Negros Occidental National Science HS and Rafael B. Lacson NHS placed fourth and fifth with 54 and 52 points, respectively.

In the elementary level, Moises Padilla placed second with 70 points while Isabela 2 Central School was third with 55 points, EB Magalona fourth (50) and F. Barandiaran ES fifth (49 points).

Rounding up the Top 10:

Secondary: 6. Binalbagan NHS (49) 7. Antipolo NHS (38) 8. Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino – Recoletos (36) 9. La Consolacion College – Isabela (31) 10. Valladolid National HS (29).

Elementary: 6. Hinigaran A ES (44) 7. San Miguel ES (42) 8. Don Felix Robles ES (37) 9. Efiginio – Enrica Lizares Memorial School and 10. Talisay ES (36).

The Top 10 winners in the individual contests in the elementary and secondary levels in both English and Filipino categories advance to the RSPC along with the top winner in group contests.

The RSPC will be held late this week and next week for the elementary and secondary levels, respectively.

The three top winners in the individual contest in the RSPC will represent Western Visayas in the National Schools Press Conference scheduled in Region II in February next year.*
