to implement new wage order
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

A labor leader in Negros Occidental has warned employers in the Western Visayas to implement the new wage order or they will face penalties.

Wennie Sancho, labor representative to the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Western Visayas and secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Associations, said yesterday that the National Wages and Productivity Commission has already published the new wage order in a newspaper on November 11.

He added that the wage increase will take effect on November 27, or 15 days after publication.

Exec supports move
to lower prices of meds

The labor sector in Negros Occidental is supporting the move of the national government to cut the prices of medicines.

This was after Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced this week that his department has submitted to the Office of the President a recommendation to lower the prices of expensive medicines.

Wennie Sancho, secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Associations, said yesterday that the national government needs to strengthen the healthcare program, adding that the meager income of the workers will be affected once they are sick.
