Infant abducted
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

A woman allegedly abducted a 17-day-old baby boy after persuading the mother to have a hair treatment that she would give her for free at San Juan-Luzuriaga streets in Barangay 12, Bacolod City, at about 1 p.m. yesterday.

Before the incident, the woman introduced herself as a relative when she approached the 24-year-old mother who was at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for a check-up, Police Maj. Jovil Sedel, Station 1 chief, said.

Later, they went to SM City Bacolod, where the woman persuaded the mother to avail of a hair rebonding treatment that she would pay for, Sedel said.

At the salon, the mother gave the child to the woman to look after while she was undergoing the hair treatment that usually lasts up to four hours.

The woman told the mother, who is an elementary graduate, that shewas going to buy food but failed to return with the baby after an hour, the police said.

Police investigators have obtained a copy of closed-circuit television footage of the mother, baby, and the alleged abductor in the mall.

The mother positively identified the woman as the one who took away her child.

Police Station 1 personnel were conducting follow-up operations to rescue the baby, and to identify and arrest the suspect.

Those who have information of the whereabouts of the woman may contact Station 1 at 09399178796 or 09985987460.*
