Negrense cuisine part
of DOT food trip project

Negros Occidental will showcase its local cuisine in the Department of Tourism’s “Chefs’ Food Trip Project”, Cristine Mansinares, provincial supervising tourism operations officer, said yesterday.

“Chefs’ Food Trip Project” will feature some of the country’s renowned culinary destinations, showcasing its most iconic dishes and local produce, she said.

This is part of the agency’s efforts to position the Philippines in the world gastronomic scene, she said, adding that DOT has tapped three United States-based Filipino-American chefs who will discover their food roots in the country.

ARBs get P7.25M in farm equipment

Eight organizations of agrarian reform beneficiaries in the province received P7.25 million worth of farm implements from the Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental 1 in rites held at its provincial office on November 8.

Teresita Mabunay, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program officer II, said the distribution of the equipment was part of the agency’s Climate-Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project that is geared towards building resiliency for agrarian reform communities with emphasis on enhancing and sustaining the agricultural productivity of the organizations as adaptation measures towards farming mechanization.

With the farm equipment, she hopes the ARBs will increase their farm production and income, and transform their lives.
