Capitol aiming for SGLG award
BY CARLA P. GOMEZ

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that for Negros Occidental to win a S eal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award, 10 percent, or four local government units under it must also win the award.

We have identified LGUs in Negros Occidental that are inthe running to push for their winning SGLG awards,“Negros Occidentaldeserves to be a winner”, Lacson said Thursday.

He said he is calling for a meeting with the mayors of these LGUs and their SGLG focal persons to try to win.

The provincial government also needs to address the problem of slow utilization of funds in order to win a SGLG award, he added.

“I told the departmentheads we can do better than this, we deserve to win a SGLG award and they are all excited, theyall agreed we should be a winner,” Lacson said.

The Negros Occidental provincial government had won SGLG awards for three years in succession, but has not won for the last two years, he said.*
