Bacolod SP asking MMDA
for traffic signal facilities

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for traffic signal facilities that are no longer being utilized by the agency.

The resolution authored by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez said the SP is requesting MMDA to donate their analog traffic signal facilities that are no longer serviceable, or they no longer need, in adherence to P.D. 1445.

It said the MMDA has acquired accumulated and installed traffic signal facilities which include lanterns, lamp posts, bulb and similar materials since 1980s.

The resolution said MMDA has also acquired and installed cables and controllers in 1998 and decommissioned said traffic signal facilities in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

These decommissioned analog traffic signal facilities have no more foreseeable usage by the MMDA as these have been phased out and replaced with new upgraded facilities from the completed and ongoing projects for the modernization of existing facilities, and are also no longer compatible with the new and enhanced digital traffic signal system of the MMDA, it said.*
