Trading pulls off come-from-behind win,
Royal Star upset No. 1 Basecom in semis


AACI Trading overcame a 23-point quarter deficit to stun AACI Transport, 75-71, while Royal Star Trading upset top seed Basecom, 88-76, in the semi-finals of the 2nd Conference Fil-Sino Athletic Club Inter-Company Basketball Tournament Wednesday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Transport was looking forward for a finals slot when it built a commanding 68-47 advantage going to the fourth period. Surprisingly, the AACI Transport fell silent as they can only score three points in the payoff quarter.

Led by Brian Coo, AACI Trading unleashed a barrage of points and showed dominance at both ends of the court. They slowly crept back as Coo also scored 11 points while teammates Rey Pandoro and Marc Jalapa provided help with a combined 14-point production to complete the come-from-behind victory.

AACI Trading held a 21-14 opening quarter advantage before AACI Transport pounded AACI Trading with 42-12 beating. It was the same story in the second quarter as Transport posted a 56-33 advantage at the break.

Coo finished the game with 31 points while Pandoro added 11 and Rinen Miagao and Jalapa with 9 points apiece.

Laureño finished with 24 points and Co shot 19 points for AACI Transport.

In the other semi-final clash, Basecom was off to a good start, taking a 34-30 lead in the first quarter as Carlo Chu dropped 20 points and Andy Tio hitting three triples.

Edgar Agana was equally explosive from the other side as he scored 22 points while teammate Carl Ginete added eight for Royal Star Trading.

Matt Deles scored nine points in the second quarter as Royal Star Trading led 49-46 at halftime.

Deles continued to run rings around the post in the third quarter for a 56-46 Royal Star lead.

Ginete, Agana and Dante Ma remained consistent in the final minutes as Royal Star beat Basecom to set up a winner- take- all match in their next encounter.

Agana tallied 29 points while Deles added 19, Ginete made 14 points and Dante Ma produced 10 points.

Chu led Basecom with 25 points, Yan Yan Dy added 13, and Mosquera scored 11 points for Basecom.*
