BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Policemen nabbed two suspected New People’s Army personalities with explosives, while another surrendered during the serving of an arrest warrant in Sitio Looc, Brgy. Albiga, Siaton, Negros Oriental, Saturday.

PCol. Raul Tacaca, Negros Occidental acting provincial police director, yesterday identified the arrested NPA members as Diokno Bacubac, a Squad Logistic Officer of the KR-Negros South East Front, and Angelita Socorin Quincina, a full time Hukbo member and wife of Glemmat Bacusmo, SEF secretary of KR-Negros.

In his report to PBrig. Gen, Debold Sinas, Central Visayas, regional police director, Tacaca said that Bacubac is facing homicide and attempted homicide charges, before the Dumaguete Regional Trial Court and the Bais City Municipal Trial Court in Cities, respectively.

The arrest of Bacubac and Quincina also yielded two 40mm ammunition for an M-203 grenade launcher, and subversive documents, he said.

Quincina, who is affiliated with KAUGMAON, and secretary of Nagkahiuisa sa Kabatan-onan sa Monte Swerte- KMP (Kilusang Magbubukid sa Pilipinas) even tried to escape, before she was arrested, Tacaca said.

The surrenderor was identified by the police as Jiesel Ann Saulda Castin of Brgy. Sebucao, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, a member of the Baking Squad 2 of KR-Negros SEF, Tacaca said.

Tacaca said that the arrest of Bacubac and Quincina, as well as the surrender of Castin will have an effect on the organizing effort of the CPP-NPA in the 3 rd district of Negros Oriental.

The documents recovered from them included sketches of police stations in Negros Oriental being targeted for possible NPA attacks, he said.*
