Megaworld is set to start construction of a P1.2-billion three-level lifestyle mall inside its 34-hectare The Upper East township in Bacolod City, its chief strategy officer Kevin Tan announced yesterday.
Construction of The Upper East Mall will start at the end of this year and it is expected to be completed by 2021, Tan said during a press conference in Bacolod City.
200 cops to secure Inasal fest

Security for the second Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival today is all set with the deployment of about 200 police officers, Police Col. Henry Biñas, Bacolod City Police Office acting director, said yesterday.
The BCPO has also been placed on heightened alert, Biñas said.Councilor Cindy Rojas, festival chairperson, said they will be giving out about 3,000 sticks of chicken inasal to 3,000 senior citizens who will avail of free meals at the festival site today.

Eighteen exhibitors from Negros Occidental joined this year’s International Food Exhibition at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, that opened yesterday.
Cristine Mansinares, provincial supervising tourism operations officer, said the local exhibitors offered herbs and spices, beverages, breads and pastries, condiments and savories in their booths at the exhibition that will run until Sunday.She said the IFEX helps micro, small, and medium enterprises reach new market, launch a new product, transact with the world buyers, explore new business partners, and discover Asian food innovations. Buyers and visitors can also source unique food items and savor the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, she added.
