Drug leader, 4 others
killed, PNP says

An alleged leader of a local drug group and three others died yesterday in a brief gunbattle with policemen in Hacienda Bariw, Brgy. Santa Teresa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, that also yielded assorted firearms and more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu.
Another member of a local drug group was also shot and killed by motorcycle-riding suspects in Brgy. Rizal, Sagay City, Sunday night, police said.
Power rates to go up

Consumers should expect another increase in their billing following the decision of the Supreme Court that transformers, electric posts, transmission lines, insulators and electric meters are not exempt from real property tax (RPT) under the Local Government Code (LGC).
The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperative Inc. (PHILRECA) had filed a petition to initiate rule-making seeking the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission of its proposed rules to allow the pass-through of RPT for poles and transformers.The petition was promulgated by ERC on Feb. 19.
Deliberations on kasambahay
wage increase March 27-29

Deliberations on the proposed salary increase for kasambahays in Western Visayas will be held in Bacolod City next week, Wennie Sancho, labor representative to the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the region, said.
The marathon deliberations will be on March 27 to 29, with 21 Restaurant as tentative venue, and he said he hopes that by the end of this month, the Board could finally decide on the proposal.Under the proposal, the increase may either be P500 or P1,000 per month, Sancho, who is also the secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Association, said.
