NPA claims killing of ‘cop informant’

The New People’s Army Leonardo Panaligan Command has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the death of an alleged police informant on June 6 in Brgy. Buenavista, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Ka JB Regalado, Leonardo Panaligan spokesperson, alleged that the victim Rosemar Melancolico was a police asset supervised by a certain PNP Fermin Jacobe in Guihulngan.

Regalado further linked Melancolico to the Oplan Sauron 1 campaign of the PNP in Brgy. Buenavista, Guihulngan City in Dec. 27, 2018, as well as two murder incidents and illegal drug activities.

He also said that the killing of Melancolico was successfully carried out by members of the NPA Special Partisan Unit.

Investigations by the Guihulngan City Police station showed that three others persons, who were attending a wake in front of the Bueavista barangay hall, were also injured, when Melancolico was shot by six armed men.*
