Police Captain Jun Ray Batadlan, Station 9 chief, said yesterday that Soledad had just alighted from a jeepney, and immediately crossed the street without stopping first, and looking at both sides of the road.

Soledad was supposed to visit her grandchild when the accident happened.
Mendoza, who is now detailed at the custodial facility of Station 9, has pledged to help the family members of Soledad in the burial expenses as they opted to reach a settlement, Batadlan said.
He also said Mendoza is a government employee.*
