Benitez 2nd richest in House


Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) is the second richest congressman in the country, based on his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2018.

He declared a total net worth of P1.016 billion in 2018, with P1.230 billion assets and P214 million in liabilities.

His net worth in 2018 is slightly higher than the previous years with P1.004 billion. He was the third richest lawmaker in 2017.

Benitez was among the two billionaire lawmakers in the Philippines. The other one was Rep. Michael Romero (1Pacman party-list).

Romero was the richest among the 291 members of the House of Representatives. He declared a net worth of P7.858 billion last year.

Other congressmen from Negros Occidental who filed their SALN were Juliet Ferrer of 4th District with P151.314 million net worth, Alejandro Mirasol of 5th District with P30.588 million net worth, Gary Alejano of Magdalo party-list with P18.143 million net worth, Leo Rafael Cueva of 2nd District with P15.720 million net worth, Mercedes Alvarez of 6th District with P10.316 million net worth, Melecio Yap Jr. of 1st District with P9.197 million net worth, and Stephen Paduano of Abang Lingkod party-list with P2.947 million.

Congressmen from Negros Oriental who also filed their SALN were Jocelyn Limakaichong of 1st District with P156.349 million net worth, Arnolfo Teves Jr. of 3rd District with P63.853 million net worth and Manuel Sagarbarria of 2nd District with P64.611 million net worth.

Other richest congressmen in the country were Imelda Marcos of Ilocos Norte with P923.800 million net worth, Feliciano Belmonte Jr. of Quezon City with P864.752 million, Virgilio Lacson of Manila Teachers party-list with P793.871 million, Bayani Fernando of Marikina City with P748 million, Antonio Floirendo Jr. of Davao del Norte with P714.601 million, Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas with P555.324 million, Yedda Marie Romualdez of Leyte with P487.609 million and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of Pampanga with P479.546 million.

Meanwhile, Representative Sarah Elago of Kabataan party-list has the lowest net worth with P85,400.*
