BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A 7-year-old was reported by the police to have drowned on Tuesday in Sitio Luyang, Brgy. Guiljungan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

The minor and his 11-year-old companion had brought a carabao to a nearby river, when they decided to swim, the Cauayan police reported.

Both were rescued and brought to the Cauayan District Hospital. But the 7-year-old was declared dead on arrival, while the 11-year-old was referred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

On Sunday, two minors also died, when they drowned while swimming in a river in Brgy. Zone 6, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.*
