Villar guest at Bacolod charter day

Senator Cynthia Villar will be the guest of honor and speaker during the Charter Day celebration of Bacolod City on June 18, Bacolod Councilor Em Ang said yesterday.

Ang said Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who was supposed to be the speaker for the Charter Day, will also be the guest of honor during the inaugural program of the new set of officials of Bacolod City.

June 18 of every year is now a “special non-working holiday” in Bacolod, after President Rodrigo Duterte signed last year Republic Act No. 11146 that declares June 18 as the correct date for the “Bacolod City Charter Day.”

Meanwhile, Ang said the city will showcase the different food and products of 10 barangays during the Charter Day celebration as part of the Mga Adlaw sg Paghanduraw from June 12 to 19.

There are other local small medium enterprises, which they support, that also want to participate in the Halandumon Food and Trade Fair that opened yesterday and will run until June 20, she said.

Ang said there will be a total of 70 tents or booths around the Bacolod City Government Center that will house the displays of the barangays and SMEs.

On the other hand, the Halandumon Photo Exhibit will open today at 1 p.m. at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central followed by the Halandumon History Quiz at 2 p.m. and Barangay OPM Idol at 5 p.m.*
