Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said that in the interest of more competition and better passenger options, the Civil Aeronautics Board fully supports the intention of Philippines AirAsia to enter the Bacolod market.

This was relayed to Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and businessman Eduardo Alunan yesterday by Finance Secretary Carlos “Sonny” Dominguez III and Rep. Mikee Romero (1-Pacman Party-List),a major shareholder and vice chairman of Philippines AirAsia.

Leonardia said Romero told him that AirAsia expects to serve the Bacolod route in about a month, after complying with procedures of the CAB. moremoremore

Four Negrenses were sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for the sale of illegal drugs.

Sentenced by Judge Raymond Joseph Javier of the Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 were Rhodelyn Jaro Ubas and Jocelyn Suarez Gorriceta to two counts of life imprisonment, and Vicente Jarapa Canoy and Jimmy de Asis Drilon to one count of life imprisonment.

Ubas and Canoy were charged for the sale of .171 gram of shabu to a police poseur-buyer in Purok Cereza 1, Barangay 27, Bacolod, on Aug. 7,2015, for which they were sentenced to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P500,000 each. moremoremore

Bago top rice producer in WV

Bago City in Negros Occidental was hailed the top rice-producing city in Western Visayas by the Department of Agriculture.

The city, known as the rice granary of the province, was recognized in the Rice Achievers Awards ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City Thursday. This is its second citation for rice farming in two consecutive years.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo, City Agriculturist Carlito Indencia, and Remelyn Recoter, DA Region 6 director, received the award along with P1 million in project grant.
