Assassins kill lawyer,
wife injured – police

A San Carlos City lawyer died, while his wife was injured, after they was shot yesterday by two motorcycle riding suspects in Sitio Looc, Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Anthony Trinidad, 53, was declared dead on arrival at the Guihulngan District Hospital, after being shot by a suspect, riding a motorcycle, with a .45 caliber pistol, the Guihulngan City Police Station investigation showed.

His wife, Novie Marie Trinidad, 53, survived despite her injuries. moremoremore

A barangay captain being investigated for the brutal killing of four policemen died yesterday in a hospital, a day after he reportedly drank pesticide in Brgy. Awa-an, Ayungon, Negros Oriental, Col. Raul Tacaca, provincial police director, said yesterday.

Tacaca said they are still trying to determine what motivated Mabato barangay chairman Sunny Caldera to allegedly kill himself.

Caldera was a person of interest in their investigation into the summary execution of four policemen last week in Brgy. Mabato, Ayungon, Negros Oriental, Tacaca said. moremoremore

Exec confident of WV wage hike
as RTWPB sets public hearings

Public hearings on the proposed wage increase in Western Visayas have been set by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Wennie Sancho, secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Association, said.

Sancho said the secretariat of the Board ruled yesterday that the petition is sufficient in form and substance.

The proposed hike was filed on July 1 by the New and Independent Workers Organization, a labor union of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. Bacolod rank and file employees, before the RTWPB.
