Dengue deaths rising
Cases in Neg. Occ. up 73%: PHO

The dengue death toll in Negros Occidental has hit 20, with a 73 percent increase in cases compared to last year, the latest Provincial Health Office report said yesterday.

Cadiz City had the highest number of deaths at 4, followed by Candoni, Escalante City and San Carlos City with two each, the PHO report covering January 1 to June 22 showed.

Hinigaran, La Castellana, Manapla, La Carlota City, Calatrava, Murcia, Binalbagan, Sagay City, Himamaylan City and Cauayan had one death each.

There have been 2,838 dengue cases reported from January to June 22, which are 1,200 more compared to the sameperiod last year.

The most number of dengue cases this year were in Kabankalan City with 308, followed by San Carlos City with 271, Bago City – 201, Cadiz City – 172, Cauayan–170, Himamaylan City – 149, Sagay City – 140, Escalante City – 130, Binalbagan – 102, Murcia – 100, Calatrava – 99, Talisay City – 97, Silay City – 96;

Candoni – 89, La Carlota City – 79, Toboso – 77, Victorias City – 69, Ilog – 68, Manapla – 68, Isabela – 41, Sipalay City – 40, E.B Magalona – 37, Valladolid – 33, Hinoba-an – 32, La Castellana – 29, Pontevedra – 28, Moises Padilla – 25, Salvador Benedicto – 25, Hinigaran – 24, Pulupandan – 21, and San Enrique – 18.*
