Mayor Evelio Leonardia turned over yesterday the newly purchased P13-million backhoe loader and P5-million dump truck to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran assisted Leonardia, and the P18-million equipment were received by Executive Assistant Jose Maria Vargas, who heads the Cluster on DRRMO, and Dondon Parandas, officer-in-charge of CDRRMO, a press release from the mayor’s office said.
The turnover rites were held at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.
Vargas said the Hidromek model backhoe loader is the first in the Philippines, and includes a payloader, concrete breaker, and a rock crusher.
He added that the backhoe is now their third unit, the other two that were purchased in 2009 are still operational.
He said the new backhoe loader and dump truck will be temporarily used by the City Engineer’s Office for their maintenance operations.
Meanwhile, the CDRRMO is also planning to purchase one rapid response vehicle, boom truck and additional CCTVs (closed-circuit television), Vargas added.*
