Two newly-identified personalities in the drug watchlist of the police were caught with 30 grams of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in a pension house in Barangay 3, Dumaguete City, at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
They were identified as Nestor Joseph Cornelio Arnaiz, 28, single, of Brgy. Pansil, Tanjay City, and Olivar Palad Eparwa, 30, married, a resident at Brgy Tubtubon in Sibulan, both in Negros Oriental.
Initial police investigation said Arnaiz and Eparwa were caught in a test-buy operation by elements of the Dumaguete City Police Station, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Recovered from the suspects were five medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, one big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu, and P4,920 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.
All the recovered pieces of evidence have an estimated weight of 30 grams with Dangerous Drugs Board value of P204,000. Booking procedures were conducted on the suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
