NPA told: Stage more offensives
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The New People’s Army in Negros has been ordered to conduct more tactical offensives against the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, after being congratulated by their leaders for their “successful operations” against the AFP and PNP for this month.

Ka Juanito Magbanua, spokesman of the Apolinario Gatmaitan Command, issued a statement yesterday that none of the NPA members was killed or apprehended in their tactical offensives, and claimed that they killed 27 government forces, allegations that have been debunked by the Philippine Army.

Magbanua said he conveyed his salute to the NPA units that have courageously implemented the order of defeating what he called the brutal campaign of their enemy.

He further claimed that the intensified military operations only victimized the ordinary people, as the AFP and PNP failed to destroy the revolutionary armed struggle.

Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of the Leonardo Panaligan Command, also issued another statement accusing the 94IB and 62IB of allegedly forcing residents in Brgy. Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, and Brgy. Trinidad in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, to attend a military-initiated dialog on Jan. 22.*
