VM to address garbage
problem at Vista Alegre

Acting Bacolod Mayor El Cid Familiaran said yesterday he has called for a meeting to educate the residents of Vista Alegre, Bacolod City on the proper disposal of garbage.

He called up Vista Alegre Brgy. Captain Lindy De Leon that he wants to call for a meeting at the Arao relocation site in Vista Alegre, because there are many vacant spaces there where people scatter their garbage anywhere, Familiaran said.

Familiaran said he will also suggest that a garbage bin be placed in the Arao Relocation Sites that people will be taught how to use it for dumping garbage. He was informed that the residents in the area also dump their garbage after the IPM-Construction and Development Corp. has collected waste in the area.

He said he will convince Councilor Cindy Rojas to again start the implementation of the Clean and Green contest in the barangays.

Meanwhile, Familiaran said the city’s new strategy on the proper disposal of garbage being imposed in the public markets in Bacolod City has been very effective.

Familiaran, earlier, met with the market vendors after receiving complaints that there are still uncollected garbage in the markets since there are those who throw their garbage after IPM-CDC had picked up the ones earlier dumped into the garbage bin.

He said they met with the market vendors to address this recurring problem.

Meanwhile, Councilor Bartolome Orola has authored an ordinance amending Section 2 of City Ordinance No. 642 ,series of 2013 or an Ordinance amending Section 2 of C.O. 541, series of 2011, “allowing for the transfer of awards to the present market block/stall/table occupants, that was passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on third and final reading.

Orola, chair of the SP Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouses, said that for many years, there have been market vendors who are in possession of blocks, stalls, tables who are not legitimate owners of the stalls they are occupying. So he authored the ordinance to bring legitimacy to market vendors who are in possession of stalls, tables or blocks in public markets.*
